5 WAYS to RECOVER EMOTIONALLY after (ANOTHER) NEGATIVE PREGNANCY TEST

One in eight women struggles with infertility. Along with this struggle comes the monthly rollercoaster, the self-checking every symptom, and the disappointment of a single pink line.

You may be feeling the emotional strain of negative pregnancy tests. If you are, you’re in the right place. I love teaching women how to support their bodies with a little knowledge and a lot of love. I’d be honored to talk with you in the future about how I can help you achieve your health goals.

In the meantime, let’s talk about what you can do to recover after a negative test.

1. Embrace your cycle.

With every period, your body is giving you signals about your health. It is called the fifth vital sign for a reason.

Your cycle is much more complex than ovulation & menstruation. Point your focus more toward the days (and hormonal transitions) in between. Optimize your lifestyle (food, productivity, exercise, and romantic life) to fit your innate ebbs & flows. I really like this book for learning more about how to lean into living with your cycle.

2. Throw away the pregnancy tests.

I know, I know. It's hard and those puppies are expensive.

At the very least, have your significant other hide them. They are not a great source of information. Your body will tell you that you aren’t pregnant. Slow down and listen. When your period is late, then go buy a test.

3. Feel the grief.

Be in it. Acknowledge your longing.

Life doesn’t have to keep moving at 90mph. Give yourself a mental health day to journal, reflect, and then create an action plan. It’s worth using the PTO or putting off the to-do list.

4. Do something out of the ordinary

- ideally NOT directly health or cycle-related.

Try something you’ve always wanted to try! Buy some hiking gear, sign up for a knitting class, or plan a charcuterie board night with friends. Get your mind out of this emotionally exhausting routine.

5. Go into the next month with love for your body.

Your body is preparing to grow a life. Treat it with awe and amazement.

Feed it properly, nurture it with rest time, take your supplements, move often and with intention, and get adjusted.
