INSiGHTS Into Your Health

Understanding Your Health: How INSiGHT Scans Can Make a Difference

As mothers, we want to make sure our children are healthy and thriving. One key area that often goes unnoticed is the role the spine and nervous system play in their overall well-being. This is where chiropractic care can help—especially with the use of INSiGHT scans, which assess different aspects of your nervous system's health.

INSiGHT scans look at three main areas of nervous system function: Reserve, Energy, and Depth. Understanding how these three parts affect your child’s health can provide insights into their development and overall resilience.

1. Reserve (Measured by Heart Rate Variability - HRV)

Reserve refers to your ability to handle and adapt to stress. Using a tool called neuroPULSE, our doctors measure heart rate variability (HRV), which gives insight into how well your nervous system is managing stress. Think of this like a “stress reserve”—the better it is, the more easily they can adapt to daily challenges.

For children, having a strong ability to handle stress is crucial for their emotional and physical development. Whether it’s dealing with school stress, growing pains, or social challenges, a nervous system that adapts well helps your child stay healthy and balanced.

For mothers, a strong ability to handle stress is paramount in raising well-adapted children.  Moms need to look at their nervous system's adaptability.  A high HRV score helps you respond calmly, answer with love, and help your child co-regulate.

2. Energy (Measured by Surface Electromyography - sEMG)

Energy looks at how much neuromuscular energy your child is using to stay upright, move, and function throughout the day. The neuroCORE tool measures muscle activity along the spine, showing how their posture and muscle use are related to their overall well-being.

For growing children, poor posture or muscle strain can affect not only their physical comfort but also their energy levels and ability to focus. Imagine your child’s nervous system working extra hard to balance their body’s needs—this drains energy that could be used for learning, playing, and growing. Keeping their neuromuscular energy balanced is key to helping them feel energetic and focused.

The same goes for moms.  If your muscles are straining to keep you upright, you will feel exhausted throughout the day.  You wake up tired, need an afternoon nap, and are always desperate for a Starbucks run.  Ensuring that your posture is working for you, not against you, will give you the stamina to be a present mother while having the energy to do the things you love.

3. Depth (Measured by Thermal Scanning - neuroTHERMAL)

Depth refers to the deeper changes in the autonomic nervous system, which controls things like digestion, heart rate, and sleep. The neuroTHERMAL scan measures how well the body is regulating these automatic functions.

When the autonomic nervous system is out of balance, it can lead to issues like sleep disturbances, digestive problems, or a weakened immune response. By keeping track of these deeper functions, you can understand how chiropractic care will help you and your child regulate these vital systems better.

How Does This Impact Health?

The three areas measured by INSiGHT scans—Reserve, Energy, and Depth—play an important role in long-term health. Whether it’s adapting to stress, managing energy, or regulating body’s internal functions, each part helps your child grow and thrive. Regular scans allow you and your chiropractor to keep track of how well their nervous system is functioning, and make adjustments to support their health as they grow.

By incorporating INSiGHT scans into your family’s wellness routine, you can ensure their nervous system is functioning optimally, setting them up for better health, improved focus, and greater resilience.
