How We Use Scans, Exams, and Data to Create a Personalized Care Plan

One of the most common questions we hear from new patients is:

“What are the scans?”
“What happens at the first appointment?”
“How do you know what my body actually needs?”

At Early Beginnings, we do things differently. We don’t guess, throw random adjustments at symptoms, or hope something works.

We test first, gather real information about how your body is functioning, and create a care plan designed specifically for you.

Whether you’re pregnant, postpartum, struggling with chronic stress, bringing in your child, or simply wanting to feel better, our goal is to understand the why behind your symptoms and help your body function at a higher level.

Why Symptoms Are Only Part of the Story

Your symptoms matter. We always begin by listening.

We want to know:

  • What you’re experiencing
  • How long it’s been happening
  • What makes it better or worse
  • What your intuition tells you may be going on

But symptoms alone don’t tell the full story.

At Early Beginnings, we look deeper than pain, tension, digestion issues, anxiety, sleep struggles, fertility challenges, or postpartum overwhelm. We assess the function of your nervous system and body systems to uncover what’s driving those symptoms.

Because when we address the root cause, symptoms often improve naturally and stay improved.

Our 3-Part Neurological Scan

Your first visit includes our Insight Scan, which helps us objectively measure how your nervous system is adapting to stress.

1. Heart Rate Variability (HRV)

This tells us how well your nervous system responds to stress and recovers.

Even in a calm environment, some bodies remain stuck in “fight or flight.” That can affect:

  • Sleep
  • Hormones
  • Digestion
  • Energy
  • Healing capacity

HRV gives us insight into how adaptable your body is and how quickly you may respond to care.

2. Thermal Scan

This gentle scan rolls up the spine in seconds and measures temperature differences side to side.

Why does that matter?

Those changes can indicate stress or dysregulation in the nerves that communicate with:

  • Muscles
  • Organs
  • Posture systems
  • Brain-body coordination

It helps us identify where communication may be disrupted.

3. Surface EMG

This scan measures how hard your postural muscles are working to keep you upright.

If your body is using too much energy just to stand or sit, that can impact:

  • Energy levels
  • Focus
  • Emotional regulation
  • Athletic performance
  • Fertility and hormone function

We also see the opposite pattern sometimes, when the body has been compensating for so long that it starts to shut certain muscles down.

Your Full Chiropractic Exam

Scans are only one piece of the puzzle.

We also complete a thorough exam that may include:

Posture Assessment

We evaluate alignment and balance, which matters for:

  • Pelvic balance in pregnancy
  • Baby positioning
  • Sports performance
  • Reducing wear and tear over time

Movement & Orthopedic Testing

This helps us assess safety, mobility, and whether chiropractic care is the right fit for you.

Neurological Testing

This is where we evaluate:

  • Balance
  • Coordination
  • Eye tracking
  • Brain-body communication
  • Primitive reflexes in children

For kids, this can offer insight into developmental challenges, sensory struggles, or focus concerns.

Whole-Body Care Means Whole-Person Support

At Early Beginnings, we also recognize that health isn’t just physical.

For postpartum moms, we screen for emotional wellness and help determine:

  • Is this baby blues?
  • Is more support needed?
  • Would referrals, nutrition, movement, or additional care help?

We collaborate with trusted professionals including PTs, OTs, vision therapy providers, and more when needed.

Because true wellness means caring for your body, mind, and nervous system.

Why Progress Scans Matter

We don’t just scan once and hope for the best.

After about 12 visits, we re-scan to objectively measure change.

This allows us to:

  • Confirm progress
  • Adjust your care plan if needed
  • Show improvements you may not have noticed yet
  • Predict what changes are likely to happen next

Sometimes the body heals in surprising ways first.

You may come in for headaches but notice digestion improves first. Or better sleep. Or calmer moods.

That’s why data matters.

We Don’t Guess at Early Beginnings

You deserve more than “let’s try this and see.”

You deserve care that is:
✔ Personalized
✔ Objective
✔ Root-cause focused
✔ Progress-driven

Our mission is simple: help you and your family feel better, function better, and heal with confidence.

If you’ve been dismissed, confused, or stuck guessing about your health, this may be the next step you’ve been looking for.
