I will guide you on your journey to empowered motherhood by taking the anxiety out of birth.

-Dr. Camille Berger, DC

Why Early Beginnings birth classes?

Early Beginnings birth classes are for you if you are seeking a partner-supported, anxiety-free birth & empowering postpartum period.

This model differs from a typical hospital’s class.

A hospital birth class is written to keep you aligned with the hospital's process. They show and tell you what is going to happen to you at their facility. Most hospitals have now transitioned to a virtual class model, which is not ideal for practicing essential labor poses and techniques.

Early Beginnings classes teach about physiological birth and empower you to understand the amazing feat your body is accomplishing.

I'm all about empowered & informed birth choices. Go into whichever birth setting you please with all the necessary tools in your toolbelt. It's not something that happens to you. Birth happens because of you, your values, and your preparation.

Early Beginnings Birth Classes look like…

  • An extremely personal setting: you, your partner or labor-support person, Dr. Camille, and 3 other couples in-person downtown Cedarburg

  • SIX 2-hour classes with Dr. Camille and specially-selected guest experts

  • WEEKLY mini-blogs full of support, encouragement, and education - sent right to your inbox

  • The EXCITING kind of homework

    • Prepare your birth map (it’s like a birth plan, but better!)

    • Evaluate & journal your intentions, fears, and joys

    • Practice various labor poses & techniques

    • Prepare for life with your baby

You can expect to leave your classes with…

  • All of the materials you will need to have a successful class experience

  • The words & phrases that will help you express your desired birth map (and make sure it’s honored)

  • A list of professionals to support you during pregnancy and postpartum

  • A toolbelt of efficient, partner-supported labor and delivery techniques

  • Prenatal health and wellness tips: What’s safe for me & baby?

  • Knowledge of interventions: what are the risks & benefits I need to know to have an informed labor? How do I respond when asked about my desire for interventions?

  • Baby and postpartum care: What do you do with a baby anyway? What are common red flags and milestones I can look out for?

  • A graduation gift basket upon class completion

Let Dr. Camille answer your questions…

“If your spouse is unable to come, or you don’t have a dedicated labor-support person, I would encourage you to bring along your sister, your mom, or a trusted friend. This is a class designed for pairs, but your partner can be whomever you choose. I will let you know in advance which classes include partner-supported labor poses so you know which weeks you may want your spouse to be present.”

“Ideally, you would take the class early on in your pregnancy - as early as 12 weeks. I want to make sure that you have the advantage of having plenty of time to prepare, decide what you want, and remain healthy and active throughout your pregnancy. Don't worry, if you are in your third trimester, you can still join us! The class is 6 weeks long so you can still squeeze it in and get plenty of great info, tips, and tricks!”

“Yes! I want to give you knowledge about common interventions so that you are equipped to make your own decision. We will look at all the paths your birth may take, learn about your options, and then you will choose what feels good to you.”

“Absolutely. It’s never too late to learn more about how to support your body through this difficult journey. My own first birth was very traumatic - that experience led me to seek education. My second and third births went totally differently as a result.”

“Doulas are an essential part of your birth team. In this class, I teach that every mom should have a doula. However, over the course of our class, we will spend 12+ hours together hyperfocused on education, connection, and community. Because you and I will have this time together, we will be able to cover more ground. You will be walking through a unique stage of life with 3 other couples who get it.

Your doula may help you write your birth plan. In my class, I teach about birth mapping, which is significantly different. This is a process that I would encourage you to collaborate on with your doula.

I am also licensed in Wisconsin to offer nutritional advice.

“Classes are not recorded, so it is in your best interest to attend every session. However, you will receive notes & resources for each session in advance.”
