How HRV Scans Help Us Understand and Support Your Baby’s Health
At Early Beginnings, we use technology like Heart Rate Variability (HRV) scans to give us a window into your baby’s nervous system—how it’s responding to stress, how it’s recovering, and how well it’s regulating essential functions like sleep, digestion, and immunity.
Let’s take a look at baby Reuelle’s journey as an example of how HRV helps us guide care:
HRV 1 – Just 5 Days Old
Reuelle came into the world through a beautiful, 5-hour homebirth—free of complications or interventions. At just five days old, and after only a few gentle adjustments, her HRV scan showed a strong, healthy reading. She was eating, sleeping, and pooping well—exactly what we love to see in a thriving newborn!
HRV 2 – Listening to the Body’s Signals
As time went on, her mom noticed Reuelle was going 2–3 days between poops, was congested, and seemed restless during naps. Her body was giving us signals: congestion waking her up, tightness along her right side from neck to legs. These subtle shifts let us know her nervous system was holding tension and needing extra support—which her ongoing adjustments helped resolve.
HRV 3 – Right After an Adjustment
A few weeks later, Reuelle’s scan told a new story. She had been growing fast and fighting off a virus, and her body was under a bit more stress. But right after her adjustment, her HRV scan shifted—moving from the orange zone (higher stress) into the yellow zone (greater balance). That same week, she started pooping daily again, napped better, and her congestion had cleared up by bedtime that night.
This is what pediatric chiropractic care is all about—gently supporting your baby’s ability to adapt, regulate, and thrive.
By listening to what the nervous system is telling us through HRV, we can personalize care to meet your child exactly where they are, and help them grow and heal in the most natural, powerful way.
